This coming September, homeowners across England will have access to up to £5000 worth of vouchers from a new Government scheme to help them make their homes more energy efficient.
Announced as the Green Homes Grant scheme, eligible homeowners will be able to use vouchers to pay for environmentally friendly property improvements such as floor and wall insulation, loft insulation or new double-glazing.
Using the vouchers, the government will pay for at least two-thirds of the cost of the work. For instance, if you’re getting new windows within your house up to the value of £8000 then eligible homeowners would only pay for £3000 of these costs.
The aim of this scheme is to make up to 600,000 properties across the country more carbon neutral, saving families throughout the country hundreds of pounds per year on their energy bills.
So how will the vouchers work?
As mentioned above, the new scheme will begin to come into effect in September, and homeowners will be able to start applying online for the vouchers at this point.
Property owners will be given a list of energy efficiency measures that the vouchers can be used for as well as accredited suppliers they can use them with.
At the moment Martindale Windows are going through the process of becoming an accredited supplier and will be looking to provide quotes for your vouchers very soon.
In the mean time, if you’d like to hear more about the range of products we’ll be able to provide on this scheme or would like to book a survey to get a quote, please don’t hesitate to contact us on 01604 845264 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
